Troubleshooting
System Failure Isolation Fail
  1. Disconnect DC switch, take off DC connector and check the impedence between PV (+) & PV (-) to earth
  2. If impedence is less than 100 k Ohm, please check the insulation of PV string wiring to earth.
  3. If impedence is greater than 100 k Ohm, please contact your solar power system installer.
  4. Take off AC connector, measure the impedence between neutral and PE. If it is higher than 10 k Ohm, please check AC wiring.
System Failure Ground I Fail
  1. Disconnect the DC switch and check the insulation of PV sting wiring to earth.
  2. Reconnect the DC switch
  3. If the problem still exists, please contact your solar power system installer.
System Failure Vac Fail
  1. Disconnect the DC switch and take off the AC isolator. Measure the voltage between line and neutral in the connector, making sure that it conforms to the grid connected specification of the inverter.
  2. If it doesn’t conform, please check grid wiring.
  3. If it does conform, please connect AC connector and reconnect DC switch. Inverter will reconnect to the grid automatically. If the problem still exists please contact your solar power system installer.
System Failure Fac Fail
  1. The PV inverter will automatically restart if the grid frequency returns to normal.
  2. If the problem still exists when the grid frequency returns to normal please contact your solar power system installer.
System Failure Utility Loss
  1. Disconnect the DC switch. Take off the AC connector and measure the voltage between the line and neutral connector. Make sure it conforms to the grid connected specifications of the inverter.
  2. If it does not, please check if the Solar Supply Main Switch and Inverter AC isolator (if present) are on and that the grid is normal.
  3. If it does, reconnect the AC connector and DC connectors. If the problem still exists please contact your solar power system installer.
System Failure PV Over Voltage
  1. Disconnect the DC switch and check the PV string voltage. Making sure it does not exceed the input voltage in the inverters specification.
  2. If it does exceed the inverters input voltage please reconfigure the PV panel string.
  3. If the problem still exists please contact your solar power system installer.
System Failure Over Temperature
  1. Please check that installation position conforms to the inverter installation guidelines.
  2. Try to lower the surrounding temperature.
  3. Move the inverter to vents or alter the installation position.
  4. If the problem still exists please contact your solar power system installer.
Inverter Failure Relay-Check Fail
  1. Disconnect the DC connectors.
  2. Reconnected the DC connectors
  3. If the problem still exists please contact your solar power system installer.
DCI High
EEPROM R/W Fail
SPI Fail
DC Bus High
GFCI Fail
System Failure No Display
  1. Disconnect the DC switch, unplug the DC connectors and measure the voltage of the DC string.
  2. Plug in the DC connectors and reconnect the DC switch.
  3. If the voltage is less than 70V please check the PV string configuration.
  4. If the voltage is higher than 125V and still there is no display please contact your solar power system installer.

 

Please Note: When sunlight is insufficient the solar inverter may continuously start up and shut down automatically due to insufficient power being generated by the solar panels. This will not lead to inverter damage. If the problem still exists when there is sufficient sunlight please call your solar power system installer.

Fronius IG Solar Inverter STATE 406 – What can you do?

Fronius IG Solar inverter STATE 406A Fronius IG Solar inverter STATE 406 error message means that your inverter has found a problem with the temperature sensor on the DC/AC board inside your inverter. There is a fault either in the DC/AC board or the connection of the board.

A Fronius IG Solar inverter STATE 406 can be seen as an internal fault with the inverter which will need to be repaired by a Fronius service partner such as Gold Coast Solar Power Solutions. First off though to ensure that it isn’t just a one-off error we recommend you try to reboot the inverter.

How to Reboot Your Fronius IG Solar Inverter

Rebooting your Fronius IG solar inverter is quite simple, however, it is important you follow the shutdown procedure correctly to avoid damaging your system. There should be instructions somewhere near your inverter on how to reboot the system which should be something like the following:

  1. Turn OFF the solar supply main switch (or inverter AC isolator if present).
  2. Turn OFF the PV array DC isolator.
  3. Wait for the inverter screen to go completely blank.
  4. Once completely blank, wait a few seconds and then turn ON the PV array DC isolator.
  5. Turn ON the solar supply main switch (or inverter AC isolator if present).

It may take a couple of minutes to restart, so just wait patiently while the inverter reboots. If the STATE 406 message is displayed again you are going to need the help of a solar accredited electrician.

How to get a Fronius IG Solar Inverter STATE 406 fixed

Gold Coast Solar Power Solutions are a Fronius Service Partner who can repair Fronius IG Solar inverter STATE 406If your Fronius IG inverter is still within the warranty period or even if your not sure (a 5 year warranty is standard) then you can call Fronius directly on 03 8340 2910 or if your near the Gold Coast or Brisbane you can contact us here.

Before we can provide any advice we will require your inverters serial number which can be found underneath the inverter. It will be 8 digits followed by a / and 2 more digits, such as 12345678/20.

If your inverter is out of the warranty you have 2 options:

  1. Pay to get it fixed (and still have no warranty)
  2. Install a quality replacement inverter with a full new warranty.

Do you have a Growatt MTL Solar Inverter No AC Connection Issue?

Growatt MTL Solar Inverter No AC ConnectionGrowatt MTL Solar Inverter No AC Connection message on your inverter screen? If so you’ve come to the right place for help!

With the No AC Connection issue the red Fault light is on and the screen displays the “No AC Connection” message. This means that the inverter is not detecting any electricity from the power grid or from the switchboard and needs to be checked right away.

The first thing you should do is check if the Inverter AC Isolator (if applicable this would be beside your inverter) and the Solar Supply Main Switch in your switchboard are on. Check also that there has not been a power failure as a power failure would give the same message.

If after checking the above the inverter still says “No AC Connection”, what you’ll need to do is contact a solar accredited electrician to come and have a look at your system and work out what’s causing the problem. Still no AC Connection on your Growatt MRL solar inverter? One more thing…

Ok so your electrician has checked the AC voltage at the inverter and it’s all good? There is one more thing that your electrician can try and that’s a small fuse inside the Growatt MTL inverter.

In our experience we’ve found that this fuse can blow and all that’s required is a replacement fuse be installed and away the Growatt MTL goes! The following image shows the location of the fuse – HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES MAY BE PRESENT INSIDE THE INVERTER EVEN WHEN TURNED OFF – ALL ELECTRICAL WORK MUST BE PERFORMED BY A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN!!

SolaX Solar Inverter No Utility Message

SolaX Solar Inverter No Utility message The SolaX Solar Inverter No Utility message is letting you know your inverter is not detecting any power from the grid. When your SolaX solar inverter is operating correctly the inverter light will be a solid green. A Red light indicates that your inverter has detected a fault with the system. The particular fault details are displayed on the screen, and if you’re reading this I bet you’re seeing a No Utility message!

SolaX No Utility Message – What does it mean?

The SolaX Solar Inverter No Utility message indicates the inverter is not detecting any power from the electricity grid.

There are a few things you can check right away that might fix the error message:

  1. Make sure your Solar Supply Main Switch in the switchboard is set to ON (usually the up position). If your inverter is not located near your meter box it should have an AC isolator installed next to it, make sure that this is also in the ON position
  2. Confirm you are not experiencing a blackout at the time, if you are the “No Utility” message is normal
  3. Make sure the AC plug is firmly plugged into the inverter

If you have tried the above, and your inverter is still showing the No Utility message. Your next step will be to contact a solar accredited electrician as further testing of your inverter will be required.

What To Do About a SolaX Solar Inverter No Utility message

The SolaX Solar Inverter’s No Utility message may be attributed to an issue with a circuit breaker, a cabling issue, or even damage within the inverter. An accredited solar electrician will need to test the AC components and your inverter to ascertain the cause of the No Utility message.

Should your inverter be faulty, then it may be covered under the SolaX manufacturers’ warranty. SolaxX Solar inverters are covered by a 5-year manufacturer warranty so if it’s still within this period you can make a claim. A warranty claim must be submitted to SolaX for a replacement inverter.

SolaX require the following information when submitting a warranty claim:

  1. Model Number

Xantrex Solar Inverter DC Voltage Fault

Xantrex DC Voltage FaultThe Xantrex Solar Inverter DC Voltage Fault is a clear sign your solar power system isn’t working. There are two ways to tell you have this error:

  • The screen is continually coming up with “DC Voltage fail” and then “Inverter Offline”
  • The Online light is off
  • The Ground fault light is off

When the Xantrex Solar Inverter DC Voltage Fault message is a problem
