Does your Aero-Sharp inverter have a blank screen?
A common problem we see with Aero Sharp inverters is where the screen is completely blank and illegible.
If this is the case the first thing to check is the status of the green lights on the right hand side of the screen. If the green power light and the green run light are on then the inverter should be working – this is telling us that the screen had failed or has been damaged by UV to the point that it is illegible.
If just the green power light is on then the inverter is not working!!
If the green fault light is on then the inverter is not working!!
If no green lights are present at all (they may be difficult to see, especially if the inverter is in the sun) then it is highly likely that your Aero-Sharp inverter is not working!!
When this happens it may mean an internal fault in the system that will need to be fixed ASAP. The first thing you need to do is check if the AC Isolator (if present), Solar Supply Main Switch and the PV Array DC Isolator are all on.
How do I troubleshoot an Aero-Sharp Inverter Blank Screen?
If you have done this, try rebooting the system using the correct shutdown procedure as follows:
- Turn off the SOLAR SUPPLY MAIN SWITCH or Inverter AC Isolator (if installed).
- Turn off the PV Array DC Isolator located at the inverter.
- Wait for approximately 1 minute.
- Turn on the SOLAR SUPPLY MAIN SWITCH or AC Isolator (if installed).
- Turn on the PV ARRAY DC Isolator.
- Wait a few minutes for the inverter to restart.
- Check to see if the error has cleared.
If the screen is still totally blank and the run light is not lit it sounds like you may have a fault with the inverter that will need to be repaired or replaced. We recommend replacing the inverter as the best course of action as if you try and get it repaired you’re probably looking at around $500 in repair costs because:
- You’ll need an electrician go to the site to diagnose the fault who will charge you.
- After checking it out, you’ll need to send it away to an inverter repair agent who will charge you.
- When the unit is repaired (if it was possible) you will need to have an electrician come back to the site and install the inverter who will charge you again.
As can be seen it is going to cost you to get this issue fixed and at the end of the day you still have a dodgy inverter with no warranty that could fall over again tomorrow. The best thing to do is bite the bullet, spend a bit more and replace your Aero-Sharp inverter it with a good quality inverter that’s going to give you a full warranty. The size of your inverter can be found on the side of the inverter so you know the correct size inverter required to replace the faulty unit.
Unfortunately Shanghai AeroSharp Electric are no longer trading and so the inverter will not be covered under any manufacturer warranty.
If you have a faulty Aero-sharp with a blank screen, you’ve tried the above and it’s showing the same thing, you’re going to need to a solar accredited electrician to come and have a look at your system and see if it’s an internal fault with the solar inverter.
