Is your Samil Solar River inverter displaying a “No Utility” message on the inverter screen?
At Gold Coast Power Solutions there are several issues that we have seen with Samil solar inverters, with one of the common issues being the Samil solar river inverter displaying a “No utility” message on the screen and the red fault light being lit.
If your Samil inverter is displaying a No Utility message on the screen it means that the inverter is not detecting any power from the electricity grid and therefore the system is not working – you need to take action ASAP!
What can you do about a Samil Solar River Inverter No Utility message issue?
The first thing to do with a No Utility message is to check if all the switches are turned ON, such as the:
- AC Isolator beside the inverter (if applicable) and the
- Solar Supply MAIN SWITCH located on the switchboard
If you find one of these switches was turned off then turning it back on should clear the message on the inverter and get it up and running again. If this doesn’t work you will need to contact your local accredited solar power experts (That’s us if you’re near the Gold Coast). The solar electrician will check to see if there’s any power getting to the inverter from your switchboard and ascertain whether the issue is in the inverter itself or if it’s a problem somewhere else down the line.
If the solar electrician works out that there is grid power from the switchboard going to the inverter, then this means that the issue is in the inverter.
If your Samil inverter with the No Utility message was installed within the last 5 years it will still be within the warranty period. If it’s more than 5 years old we recommend replacing it with a good quality replacement unit which is backed by a full manufacturers warranty.
**IMPORTANT NOTE WITH SAMIL INVERTER WARRANTIES** We’ve been dealing with Samil inverter faults such as the No Utility error for years now and Samil have recently become quite un-cooperative with providing warranty support. They take around 3 months to send out a replacement inverter, they communicate extremely poorly if at all and they are supposed to pay the service technician’s labour costs for replacing the faulty unit. Samil currently owe us thousands of dollars and have admitted that they are having financial issues, so please be aware of these facts if trying to make a warranty claim with a Samil No Utility error message – Good Luck!

Hi Mark, it sounds like your Samil inverter may have failed. I would recommend that you get in touch with a local solar accredited technician to assist you further as they will need to perform some tests on-site to further diagnose the issue.
Hi, I have 2 of these inverters and 1 of then is now showing nothing on the screen at all and no light showing either. I have done a shutdown and start up on both but nothing changes.
