Solis inverter problems
Ginlong Solis Solar Inverter is a value-priced brand of inverters manufactured in China. Due to the high range of faults that Chinese inverters are known for there are not a lot of reputable solar installing companies that offer this inverter.
But if you find that there’s a fault in your Ginlong Solis Solar Inverter, we have put together a list of faults, descriptions, and actions from the Ginlong Solis user manual for your quick reference.
For this inverter, the LCD screen will display an alarm message in case of failure. When this happens the inverter may stop feeding into the grid. Here are the failure descriptions and their corresponding alarm messages.
Alarm Message | Failure description | Proper Shutdown Procedure |
OV-G-V | Over grid voltage | If the inverter displays any alarm message on this list, turn off the inverter and wait for 5 minutes before restarting it. Refer to the instructions below to stop and start your inverter. If the failure persists, please contact your local distributor or the service center.
To stop the Inverter, the following steps must be strictly followed: 1. Switch the Grid Supply Main Switch (AC) OFF. 2. Wait 30 seconds. Switch the DC Isolator OFF. All the LEDs of the inverter will be off in a minute. To start up the Inverter, it is important that the following steps are strictly followed: 1. Switch the Solar Supply Main Switch (AC) ON first. 2. Switch the DC Isolator ON. If the voltage of PV arrays is higher than start up voltage, the inverter will turn on. The red LED power will light, and the LCD shows the company’s name and the inverter model. 3. When both the DC and the AC grid sides supply to the inverter, it will be ready to generate power. Initially, the inverter will check both its internal parameters and the parameters of the AC grid, to ensure that they are within the acceptable limits. At the same time, the green LED will flash and the LCD displays the information of INITIALIZING. 4. After 30-180 seconds (depending on local requirement), the inverter will start to generate power. The green LED will be on continually and the LCD displays GENERATING. |

The full information is available in the Ginlong Solis solar inverter manual’s troubleshooting section. In case performing the steps above does not fix the issue and your Ginlong Solis Solar Inverter is still within the warranty period you can contact the equipment installer or supplier. Be ready with the serial number, installation date, description of the issue and system design for the PV array configuration (e.g. number of panels, capacity of panels, number of strings, etc.).
If your inverter is outside the warranty period we suggest that you contact a professional solar power expert. If you’re in the Gold Coast or Brisbane area contact Gold Coast Power Solutions here and we will be in touch to provide you with further assistance.

Hi i have solis inverter recently i noticed when i get to 3.4 kw above i will get LimByVg (limit by voltage) status showing up, are the electric company try to limited what im selling to them? Or what is mean?
Hi Jimmy, the LimByVg message on your Solis inverter will mean that the voltage on the grid is getting higher than the Solis inverter is set to allow. This is not a fault with the inverter, it’s just the voltage is going outside of its parameters. It may be worth talking to your solar power system installer to see if anything can be done to improve this.
Hi my solar system most of the time says LimByVg has said this since new called the call center as come up with a fault over voltage so got into the main settings and raised it but is still in LimByVg most of the time what is the recommendation now it’s not even a year old really sick of it already
Hi Mathew,
An Over Voltage error can be a few things.
You can try to run a few of the more energy demanding appliances in your house (washing machine, A/C etc) to see if that error goes away. The OV error can be caused when there is more power produced by the inverter than is being used or can be fed back to the grid. running more appliances (more load) can help here. doing this will not “fix” anything, only help diagnose why the error is coming up.
Also, if the mains grid voltage is to high then the inverter can detect this and give the OV error. you need to do the above test first and if the OV error persists, contact you energy provider to see what the line voltage is in your area at that time.
I get the error code limbyepm
What dose this mean
Hi Felix, I’m not 100 sure on the LimByPM error but it could mean that there is a problem detected with one or more of your PV panels. You’ll need to find a local solar expert to help with that one.
I am getting an amber fault light and a status message of Short Pro or Ground Pro last 4 days. What does that mean?
Your going to need to have this checked by a solar expert I’m afraid. Possibly a fault with the grounding of power on your panels.
My solis 5kwa 4g has followed error
UNB – BUS
Hi, it sounds like your Solis inverter has detected that the internal DC voltage inside the inverter is too low, try a reboot of the system and if the fault continues to occur you may need to get the inverter repaired or replaced.
Hi Simon I have the same error UNB-BUS on my solis 10 KW inverter which was installed in September 2019. As in your reply what has to be repaired if it need to.
Hi Murad you will be best to contact the manufacturer as it’s an internal fault which will be covered under warranty. Thanks
Not even a month old, my solis 5kw inverter is showing ileak warning everyday. What probably causes it.
Hi Joselito, this is possibly an issue with the solar panels having moisture in them.
Is i leak thr same as “leakage current protection
Hi Joselito, I am not familiar with the leakage current protection message on a Ginlong however the best actions to take would be attempting a reboot of the system, if that doesn’t rectify the issue we would highly recommend you seek further assistance from a local solar accredited electrician.
hi have newly installed 1kva, error pup up ov-g-v01 i did DIY, any possible solution. thanks
Sorry to hear about your Ginlong or Solis Inverter error Khie, I would recommend getting in touch with a local solar expert to assist you further.
How do I adjust the limbyvg settings as it seem to be Cliping the inverter when the grid voltage hits 250v
Hi Patrick, you’ll have to talk to Ginlong to get the inverter voltages changed. You will also have to ensure your electricity distributor allows the changes that you want to make to inverters voltage settings.
Hi my inverter says limbyvar what does this mean
Hi Daniel, sorry but I’ve no idea what limbyvar would mean on a Ginlong Solis inverter. Never heard of it.
